Made this for my grandsons who wanted to "see" Eleanor from a song by Caspar Babypants called "Eleanor the Elegant Elephant.".   Eleanor is one of the oddest characters I’ve ever read, but she’s also one of the truest. Between the weirdness and mishaps, she exhibits these moments of astute social commentary. I keep finding quick, delightful sparklets from Eleanor’s narration that feel so familiar to me it’s like they’ve been ripped from my head.

Gail Honeyman‘s debut novel Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine is a book club favorite and for good reason! The main character Eleanor tugs at our heartstrings and makes us want to pull her into our care to protect and guide her as her mother never did.   In addition to her autobiography, Ms. Sheldrick wrote several other books, including “The Orphans of Tsavo” () and “An Elephant Called Eleanor” ().

Janet Maslin’s roundup of 16 books to read this summer includes a stunner of a cop novel, a satire of the wealthy, sidesplitting essays and a classical mystery for fans of Agatha Christie.   Gail Honeyman is a graduate of the universities of Glasgow and Oxford. Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine is a #1 New York Times bestseller, and has won awards around the globe, including the Costa First Novel Award, the British Book Awards Book of the Year, and the BAMB Reader’s Choice Award. This is Honeyman's debut novel and she lives in Glasgow, : Penguin Publishing Group.
